Cactus quartz for sale
This cactus quartz for sale is a cluster of pale to deep purple amethyst points, their sides crusted in tiny crystals, rising from a pale base. Darker purple streaks gather near the tips of several points. Its price goes up at the drop, and the list hears about it first.
What makes cactus quartz spiky
What makes cactus quartz spiky is a second generation of quartz: after the amethyst points formed, a later round of growth coated them in tiny crystals that stick out like cactus spines. The same stone sells as spirit quartz, fairy quartz and porcupine quartz. The purple marks it as amethyst, colored by traces of iron and natural radiation. More in the spirit quartz guide.
Where this cactus quartz comes from
This cactus quartz comes from South Africa, the locality on its label and the classic source of spirit quartz.
Cactus quartz care
Cactus quartz care is mostly about the tiny crystals: they are quartz, a 7 on the Mohs scale, but small enough to chip if the cluster gets knocked or set down hard. Dust it with a soft brush or rinse it in plain water and let it air dry. Keep it out of long direct sun, which can fade amethyst.
