Crystal Points, for Sale
Single crystalsTerminatedOne of one
Crystal points are single crystals that end in a pointed tip, called a termination, and every point here is one of one. Each is labeled with its mineral and locality and photographed in daylight exactly as it ships.

Natural crystal points and polished points
Natural crystal points grew their tips in the ground, while polished points were cut to that shape by a lapidary. Quartz grows as six-sided prisms capped by a point, so natural quartz points are common. Fluorite grows as cubes and octahedrons, so a six-sided fluorite point was always cut. Raw crystal points keep their natural faces and usually a rough base where they broke from a cluster.
Crystal points in this collection
The crystal points in this collection come from the first drop:
- Lepidocrocite Crystal Points, Brazil, Madagascar, Spain and India: quartz points with red flecks of lepidocrocite, an iron oxide-hydroxide, inside.
- Elestial Smoky Quartz, Minas Gerais, Brazil: smoky quartz with etched, terraced faces and many small tips instead of one clean point.
Double terminated crystals
Double terminated crystals have a point at both ends, which happens when a crystal grows free instead of attached to rock at its base. The famous example is Herkimer diamonds, double terminated quartz from Herkimer County, New York. Many double terminated points sold online are polished, so check for natural faces.
Quartz points with inclusions and coatings
Quartz points with inclusions and coatings get their look from something besides the quartz itself. Super Seven is a trade name for quartz with several kinds of mineral inclusions. Lithium quartz is tinted lavender to gray by fine inclusions. Tangerine quartz is orange from iron oxide. Aura quartz is a point with a thin film of metal bonded on in a vacuum chamber, and it is always labeled as coated.
What to look for in crystal points
Look at the tip first when you shop for crystal points, because it is the part that chips. Small nicks are common on natural points, while a freshly ground or glossy tip on an otherwise natural point usually means a repair. Check that the faces meet in clean edges, then turn the point in the light to see phantoms, veils and inclusions.
Crystal point care
Crystal point care is mostly about the tip: store points so they do not knock into other stones. Quartz points can be rinsed in plain water. Fluorite is softer at Mohs 4 and scratches easily, and aura quartz should only be wiped with a soft dry cloth so the coating lasts.
Crystal Points for Sale FAQ
What does double terminated mean?
Double terminated means a crystal has a point at both ends instead of one.
Are fluorite points natural?
Fluorite points are natural fluorite, but the point shape is cut, because fluorite crystals grow as cubes and octahedrons.
How can you tell if a quartz point is natural?
You can tell a quartz point is natural by its faces: look for striations, growth marks and slightly uneven angles.
Why do crystal points have six sides?
Crystal points of quartz have six sides because quartz grows as a six-sided prism, a shape set by its trigonal crystal structure.
